5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente reloj
Reviewed in Mexico 🇲🇽 on 19 April 2023

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch is easy to use as long as you read the manual.

This review is mainly in response to the two star review from the truck driver who couldn't figure out how to set the time.

The watch is Multi Band 6, which means that it will set the reference time (UTC) automatically, but it's up to the user to specify which time zone the watch is in.

Therefore, you will need to press the lower left button until the watch reads "M Time" for Timekeeping mode, then unscrew the crown and pull it out. The watch LED should read "CITY". By turning the crown, the second hand will point to one of the city names on the dial and the hour and minute hand will move to the correct time for that city. For example, I'm in Chicago, so I move the second hand to say "CHI" and then you press the crown in, and screw it back down.

That's pretty easy.

As for the people complaining about mineral crystal getting scratches. Yeah, duh. It's a watch. If you don't want the face to get normal wear and tear, you really need to buy and apply a 37mm watch face protector (most are tempered glass) and apply it to the face of the watch before anything bad happens to the glass.

As for the complaints about the strap, it seems solid enough. $80 to replace it with a Casio strap is kind of ridiculous when you can use any NATO strap of the appropriate size and they shouldn't run you more than $20-30, even at a jewelry store. Some will even install them for you.

As for the alarm? Could possibly be louder, but this is as loud as any Casio watch alarm I've ever heard.

The price was decent as for the Black Friday deal. I would not pay anything close to MSRP on a watch because every watch company plays MSRP games.

The accuracy of the watch is exceptional. The quartz movement is accurate to +/- 15 seconds per month from where you set it, even if for some reason you wanted to turn off Atomic Timekeeping and go manual, which is typical for modern quartz movements. Very few mechanical movements have anywhere close to this sort of accuracy.

In the default mode of Atomic Timekeeping on, the watch is accurate to within 1 second of the official time broadcast in your region of the world. The second hand on my watch is in sync with the NTP time on my computer, as set by Chrony on Fedora GNU/Linux.

In short, you should never have to set the time on this watch in nearly any part of the world. You just need to set the time zone and let the watch take care of the rest. Casio suggests that if you can't get the watch to lock on to the Atomic Time signal, to keep it near a window for a while during the time of day that the signal is strongest in your region (which is usually during the night in the United States).

The watch is powered by solar or UV light which charges a CTL1616 watch battery. These are known to be fairly reliable and can last more than 20 years. One thing you do not want to allow to happen is to let the battery go completely dead because it can kill the battery out permanently. It's suggested to leave it in a window that receives sunlight for a while every so often.

The reviewer who couldn't figure out the time zone control also couldn't figure out how to read it at night. There's a backlight and the button is at the bottom of the watch. Push it, the watch illuminates for a couple of seconds.

Overall, the operation of the watch is quite simple once you've used it for a while.

If there's a good complaint about this watch, they should probably put a G-Shock case around it and to try keeping the look about the same. But that's a nit. If you plan to put this watch through serious abuse, get a G-Shock and you'll like that better.

Showed up today and I am happy! Absolutely beautiful watch. I also went ahead and ordered the screen protectors and it is installed in the picture I posted with this review. The band is comfortable but overall would have liked it to have double holes on the strap. I know it's accurate because right out of the box the time was spot on with my cell phone. Love the atomic and solar powered features. All the bells and whistles that this watch has are just icing on the cake. I am 45 and visibility was an issue with the Casio Rangeman that I originally purchased in which I was going to wear as an everyday watch. I just could not make out some of the smaller numbers on the Rangeman so I returned it and purchased the Pro Trek instead. The large numbers on the dial are perfect and the digital display is easy to read also, even indoors. I am a huge fan of all the numbers on the dial being actual numbers instead of tick marks. I personally have not had time (no pun intended) to play with all the options but from the reviews and you tube videos that I have seen it seems to me this is a pretty easy watch to use. As I said before, I am very happy with this purchase. If you are looking for a watch with options with still a bit of that old school watch vibe this would be the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Nice ad hoc watch from Casio! 👍🏼
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 10 November 2022

I like this watch! I am an avid watch collector/enthusiast and usually focus on Swiss Automatics from the 50’s/60’s. As a result, I haven’t had a Casio “electronic” watch since I got as 11 y/o. However, I wanted a watch that I could wear and not worry too much about if I bumped it or scuffed it on a hard surface. So I was looking at Casio “G-Shocks” when I came across their “Pro-Trek” line of watches that I was hitherto unaware of. After researching the variety of features on the various models in this line, I settled on the 5571 model. As I was just about to “check out”, I saw the 6600 model, which essentially is the same watch, but it had the “Atomic Radio Signal” feature and was on sale for less than the 5571! Done! I was a bit concerned about the size, as I have smaller wrists and I usually wear watches in the 39mm-42mm range. This watch was advertised at 51.5mm, but I have to say, it “wears” a bit smaller. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a big faced watch, but I don’t find it offensive or “overbearing”. I also was anticipating a steep learning curve regarding the usage of features. However, it was fairly straight forward for this middle aged guy and probably a “walk in the park” for the younger generation. The build quality and fit and finish is very nice as Casios tend to be. I like the solar power feature and it only took about a half day long in the sun to “fill’er-up!” I just set it on a nightstand in the evenings and the little led bedside lamp seems to keep it “topped-off”. It’s still new, but I’ve never had any low charge issues. I love the accuracy, as it receives the signal broadcast from the Fort Collins, Colorado, NIST monitored Atomic Clocks. It also monitors other broadcast Atomic Clock signals depending on where you live. All in all, this Casio 6600 is everything I was looking for and has become my daily wearer (for now)! Definitely worth the $253.00 or so I bought it for! Hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic upgrade from the PRW-3500
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 23 January 2022

Owned for 6 months.

Prior to owning this watch, I had the PRW-3500 for about 7 years. Still one of the best watches, zero maintenance and does the job it was designed to do with no fuss. Still going strong today (just sits on the window seal to keep the battery topped off).

The main reason for purchasing this watch was the design while keeping the same functionality as the PRW-3500 (literally the same watch except it has hands). The PRW-3500 was a bit to 'nerdy' as I got older. If you do not know this watch has a solar panel 'ring' along the edges of the face, it's not a gimmick, it works extremely well, hyper efficient. From my experience the battery's lifespan will typically last greater than 10 years. In this case expect minimal maintenance until then. Prior experience with the PRW-3500, the watch band will give out in 2.5 to 3 years. Hopefully it is not the case with this band. This band is stupid comfortable out of the box, soft and flexible rubber. Altermieter, it works... but not accurate enough, usually off 1 to 2 hundred feet, even if I set the correct altitude, come back after a week its off. Compass, its a compass, works well enough, and will get you where you need to go, however would only use it in emergency situations (your last option). Do not have much experience with the bromater, or knowledge how to use it nor had the need too.

The watch is easy to read, but not like a digital watch. However, the hands pop out and are clearly visible/readable in all lighting conditions. This sell listing does not do the lighting on the watch any justice. When you activate the lighting the entire face, not just the hands, illuminates, and along with an LED illumination, everything that is white on the watch is fluorescent, and will illuminate passively, including the white lines on the outer portion of the bezzel. The small display has an LED illumination as well.

The watch is very comfortable, and is a watch that I can wear 24/7 without the need of ever taking it off, and I don't.

One thing that is a MUST BUY with this watch is a screen protector, like the PRW-3500, the glass is mineral, it's not if, it's when the glass will be scratched. The link below is the protector I found to be the correct glass size, it fits almost perfectly, 38mm, which is annoying because the glass is 38mm. I think once I crack the protector, already went through one (comes with three), I'm going to get the 37mm one.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07STY371X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In the end, I highly recommend this watch, totally worth the price, and it should (fingers crossed) last a decade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read the directions

I Simply read the directions and I expect to have this watch for long, long time.
It’s a very handsome watch. Read the directions on how to keep the watch clean.
The watch calibrated almost by itself after I unscrewed the crown.
I placed the watch on my bedroom window sill for 10 hours in partly sunny conditions and that was enough to power the watch thru the solar battery; I could now read the illuminated dials and numbers in the dark.
This watch has digital day/month/date display.
To me, The LED button is a disguised as part of the frame, underneath the number 6 on the dial is a rectangular button, that’s the LED button.
I don’t a watch with Bluetooth, picture display, or step counter. I can live without all that technology.
I really like this watch.
