I so wanted to like this phone. But there is something wrong with it. I can not really tell if it is fully defective or just a super crappy phone. This is my 4th Moto. I buy them for the cost and because I do not want to deal with a lot of unremovable "bloatware" (I'm talking to you Samsung). Every Moto Phone I have had except the E5 Play with removable battery has had battery problems. The Charging Tech is junk. The Batteries have all swelled up about 18 months. My 7 year old LG... never a battery issue. So let me tell you about the Pros of this Phone. #1 There are not Pros Cons - yep. Plenty of cons. It's too tall and narrow... it is very slippery and uncomfortable to hold. The screen is mediocre. And the haptics are "off". I can be holding it and just barely shift position and the screen with jump back. It feels way too sensitive. Conversely my G7+ which this replaced because of the swelled battery does not have this problem. It's not super comfortable but actually a lot better than this. And the Screen appears sharper. The signal reception on this phone is TERRIBLE!!! I get -119db, but when I pop the sim into my 7 year old LG I get -85db. It's a massive difference. Lets talk 5G. My 5G reception is aweful and seems to be even slower than the 4LTE. And because of the poor signal the phone is constantly hopping one to the other. And I can see no way to just pick one of them and hafe it stick. The battery life seems okay. I have not bothered to update to Android 12 because I am probably going to have to return this. Again I am not sure if it is defective or just really this bad. Its the worse Moto phone (and also the most expensive) that I have ever purchased. The midrange Moto Cameras are all paper specs and no performance. Again my 7 year old LG just blows this out of the water... the images are flat dull and boring in comarison. And the focus is slow. I didn't really buy it for the camera and would probably never use it anyways. But why these companies pushing these rediculous specs on paper when they are using sensors about the size of a pencil eraser? And why do I need/want 4 cameras. Just put one basic decent 12mega pixel camera on it and be done. At this price range the cameras are all crap so why put 4 crap lens on when 1 will suffice. Oh and the stylus. Yikes. Not useful to me at all. So I bought this as a G7+ replacement thinking it would be a bit better and a bit faster, but it's not better at all. It's worse. Moto is wasting so much energy making so many models all similar but just a little different. They should just make a couple models and try to make them the best at each price point which brings up another issue. Pricing is all over the place. It can vary by $100 or more depending on which day it is and how the wind is blowing. Hard to tell... so hard to tell which models are supposedly better just by price. Too many models. I guess if you like the Green Color then the case plastic is the best thing. I should have a new sim soon from another company to test if the phone actually has any kind of reception improvement. I am not keeping my fingers crossed. Will be monitoring closely so I can get this thing returned before I make a mistake and get stuck with this brick. Ask me how I really feel? Answer: So disappointed. No way this thing is worth $399. Not even $199. This is a $79 phone on it's best day. But hey Moto does have decent version of Android. Right?

Something strange is going on...

with Samsung S10e outgoing call to Motorola G Stylus 5G! The problem all began when I would call my with my new Moto G Stylus. 5G. At first neither of us could hear each other when one called the other and vice versa. So I called Verizon. After waiting for about 20 minutes and troubleshooting with the first layer of support for about another 20 minutes or so I was transferred to tech support. We went through the same song and dance as before with the first layer of support. Finally, she told me to remove my wife's number from my phone and manually dial her. I did that and BINGO! It worked for me when calling her. So Verizon tech support wanted to troubleshoot my wife's phone, but I didn't have it. So when we got home I removed my number from her phone. She called me, but the "trick" did not work for her phone! When she calls me she can't hear me, but I hear her fine. Also, since both our SIM cards were old they sent out new SIM cards for both phones. No other phone she calls does this...so we thought! More on that later.

Well we went through the work week with her calling me and not hearing me. I'd just call her back. The SIM cards arrived this past Saturday but I couldn't get to installing them til Sunday. This past Sunday I installed the new SIM cards, but still my wife's outgoing call to me AND only me still did not work. I had to call Verizon again!!!! After waiting on hold for 30 minutes and explaining the whole ordeal another 15 minutes. I was transferred to tech support and they tried everything from their end, but nothing worked! They suggested returning my phone which I am in the process of waiting for the replacement, but they had pretty much come up empty with a solution! Yet, they did "comp" my bill this month 50%. Although, my wife's outgoing to me still doesn't work.

I talked to my Mother yesterday and she told me that she can't hear my wife's calls AND my wife can't hear her either!!!! Yep, my Mother has a Motorola, but I don't know which model. She's never had any issues with my wife's number up until yesterday... strange. My Mother has has her phone about 1 1/2 and my wife has had hers almost a year. They've talked numerous time in that time with no issues.

Well the new replacement Moto G7 Stylus 5G will be here today...stay tuned!!!!! I'll change the rating if the problem is solved.

*****Update...Well my wife can't hear me on the new phone either! I put the SIM in my old G7 and she can hear me just fine... STRANGE!!!! So now I must return both!!!!!

This is the 3rd or 4th time this has happened. Nothing. Can't turn it on or off. Totally frozen. Anyone have this happen. The other times it eventually came back on after a day or so. I am so tired of this. I didn't get a warranty because these warranty's on Amazon never do nothing.. I looked at the reviews and thought it would be fine. I miss my LGs. Thank Heaven I still have my other older cell but if the moto phone does not turn back on I will have to buy another phone. Sending it back was Oct 2022. Need to check if phone had a warranty.

This is the worst phone I've ever purchased. I usually buy the cheaper Samsung phones like the a10e but thought I would try a more expensive phone. I chose this and have been disgusted with it since I got it. While it looks nice and has some ok features, the phone is just terrible to play games on. The camera takes horrible pictures and videos. The stylus feature is a plus but that's about it. I play games a lot and I thought with the "better operating system" I'd have no issues but issues is all I have from freezing to black screens with a metallic buzzing sound to crashes. I'm lucky if I get 10 mins of play time for any game. So so disappointed with Motorola. I'll stick with the 100$ Samsung phones in the future.

In the description it says it has Wi-Fi calling, it's a lie it doesn't have "voice over Wi-Fi calling" so if you're trying to use Wi-Fi you're not going to get your calls or send your calls complete misrepresentation. I can't even get a call or make a call from my house. It's taken me 3 months to find out why I could not make a phone call but thank goodness I was leaving T-Mobile and I went to Verizon and they looked it up and found out it doesn't matter what carrier I have I cannot make a phone call from my house, because this phone doesn't have voiceover Wi-Fi calling. 😡

The camera is horrible

It works as a basic phone, albeit somewhat laggy and slow. The camera is however horrible. It's like a cell phone camera from 2005. Super glitchy and slow, no built in camera or gallery app - just wants you to use Google photos for everything. Also can only take decent pictures in outdoor like light, otherwise it's extremely grainy and blurry-basically woethless. Did I mention how laggy and slow it is to take a picture? .

The last phone I had (xiaomi) was much better at everything except for making phone calls, because it seems like US carriers are trying to block any of the better quality but made in China phone brands, so I went with a Motorola phone designed to work in the US, and have been hugely disappointed. At the same time, I refuse to spend upwards of $500 on a phone that at best will last 2 years (especially a Samsung with their battery quality).

This phone is an absolute waste of money this phone has a recall that Motorola is trying to hide the type c charging cable does not stay in the phone if you look at the phone the charging cable falls out the original one I certified replacement one and aftermarket one for Amazon what Motorola does is they change the model from a 2021 to a 2022 to try to hide the fact that it is a factory defect they wanted me to send the phone in for repairs it was brand new in the box I had a better idea I returned it and I bought a different brand they also offer a home repair kit lol do not waste your time or money on the 2021 model

So, this is an EXACT duplicate of a phone i purchased originally from BestBuy last year. Everything accept Wi-Fi connectivity works.

RANT: Motorola (supposedly the oldest cellphone maker still in existence) still has problems. Biggest one being that no one in the nation's 4th largest metropolis was able to replace a cracked screen same-day... Leading to this purchase. Kudos to Amazon for its availability. I wish i could exchange it. I just need to keep my other duplicate phone with me. The weird thing is, it will connect to an open wifi, so it's a hardware problem. I guess I'm going back to Samsung? I ended up with Moto because No one had the Google Pixel in stock last year. My friend tried to get one, and eventually converted to his first iPhone.

This phone is very unreliable as a phone. It sometimes drops calls, doesn't ring, hangs up as soon as you answer. As far as using it online it is very glitchy. As for the volume is either very loud or hardly can be heard. I will have to use this phone for a long time and am not looking forward to the continuous issues.
