Don’t expect non-stick performance on foods like eggs or pancakes ok for bacon, meats and vegetables

Well cast, heavy, and accurately sized. Cast iron is (ceramic coated) which helps considerably with rust, but impedes getting a good non-stick buildup like uncoated cast iron can attain. Both sides are coarser in texture than I expected. Much coarser than any steel flat grill. You will have to tilt the grill, or push with a spatula to get any fats to drain off the griddle. The three holes are in a good position, but if your grill is on a flat surface there will not be enough slope for self-draining. The raised (signature grill mark bars) do retain more heat and mark the meat, but they also make it nearly impossible to use meat with any significant fat because the drain path is difficult and a spatula can’t reach in to push. If you are experienced with a good, well seasoned, and maintained flat grill you will be disappointed. This is not that. However, it is useful for what it can do well which is reduce flare-up, and improve temperature control when doing burgers, brats and dogs, searing shrimp or scallops or sautéing veggies and other high temperature tasks that can be problematic on a normal gas grill . I love my Napoleon and this does make it more useful and versatile. It is not, however, remotely similar to using a flat griddle.

I bought this griddle to make 'smash burgers' and steak on the BBQ.
Cast iron does such a good job putting a nice "bark" or sear on meat which imparts amazing flavor.
I also bought a stainless steel burger press to use for the aforementioned 'smashing' of the burgers.

Because it has drain holes on one side , I would not recommend using this on a stove top. Too messy and potentially fire may happen.

As mentioned in the title , I did have to properly season the griddle before use.
It came 'pre-seasoned' but not very well.
It had little bumps of seasoning and flat spots in between. A good seasoning should be smooth and virtually no stick.

To season it I used canola oil ( any oil that has a high flashpoint will do) and just caoted the pan with a light layer everywhere. Then I used paper towel to wipe as much off as I could, This leaves a very thin coating.
Then I put it in a 450 degree oven for and hour oiled side down and then shut off the stove and let it cool down before doing this two more times.
This process filled in the low spots from the factory seasoning and made it waaaaay less sticky.

I love this griddle! The only thing that I would change is to make three of the four sides with a 1 inch lip so that things don't go sliding off when you try to scoop them up with your flipper.

Replaces one of the grates on my Rogue XT 525. Needs to be seasoned before use. I put one coat of seasoning before my first use and it would have benefited from a couple more. That said, it works as desired, gets nice and hot. Could have been just slightly larger to fill the entire space better. But I’m nit-picking. Definitely worth it. Will get good use out of this!
