To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Regarding Akorn Kamado grill. The diameter of the dial is too big to nest inside the metal ring that the original sits in. You can't lay it on top of the metal ring because you won't have threads on the inside for the wingnut. I removed the metal ring and installed this straight onto the grill. The original thermometer has a rubber gasket and I used this to make a tight seal.
The thermometer is good and accurate. My grill is older so the cosmetics aren't a big deal to me. I'll keep it and just keep on grilling.
Old Pit Boss K24 thermometer was full of moisture and needed replaced. I rarely rely on the dome thermometer for anything other than a general grill temp, so I didn’t want to spend a lot. This is a perfect match to the old one in size and appears to be accurate via a boil test (212 degrees). Time will tell, but I am happy with it so far.
We really wanted this thermometer to be a good purchase. Ratings were generally good to very good, with some disgruntled buyers. This is supposed to be a simple thermometer with 2 parts. Part-1 is the gauge and Part-2 is the mounting nut. Our box did not contain the mounting nut. It contained a mounting nut styrofoam holder, but NO NUT. Since the mounting bolt thread is very large, probably metric and not easily found at a hardware store, we decided to return our first purchase. We are waiting for the return unit. We'll let you know what we think about the thermometer, if the replacement contains a mounting nut and we can try it on our grill. For now, we suggest that you don't make the purchase, as we believe that the company is shipping 'previously returned merchandise' and not taking the time to ensure that all parts are included and undamaged.
