Mine was way off on the temperature as compared to my digital.
I’ll try another brand. While other features are good, like easy to read, the correct temperature is far more important.

not safe for grill

Thermometer exploded today and showered my food with glass. Very happy the cover was closed, or I might be in the ER right now with glass in my face!

Basic problem grease gets burned on and you have to clean it frequently - otherwise unreadable. Last week did that and noticed I got water inside the thermometer. Had it draining several days - thought it was clear but no. Started the grill but thermometer was still on the counter. Put the thermometer on the hot grill, closed the cover and BANG! Guess some water still inside.

Judge for yourself. Something you want to mess with?

I'm not the only one who has had this problem.

Slow to come to temperature and already fogged

I purchased this analog thermometer for determining the grill temperature. I had high hopes for this product, but it seems to be highly unreliable. I turn on my propane grill and the grill thermometer immediately begins to respond to the temperature rise caused by the fire. This item is literally sitting on the grill right under the fire and it barely moves. I did a long cook ( 8 hours) and this thermometer was 50 degrees cooler than the hood thermometer. How is that possible? This is literally on the grill and it shows a temperature less than the hood thermometer from the grill. Because of the long lead time to come up to temperature and the disparity between the hood thermometer, this CANNOT be recommended as a thermometer. Avoid it.

Exploded inside gas grill

Be careful when using, if temperatures get too high inside a gas grill the inner metal dial will expand, eventually causing the plastic viewing "window" to explode into small plastic fragments all over the inside of your grill. Hopefully, you will not have any food cooking inside when this happens so you don't have to pick out pieces of plastic like I did.

I placed the new gauge in my Char-Broil Gas Bistro grill, turned it on and waited until the grill lid gauge showed 650 degrees. I lifted the lid and the new gauge showed between 500 and 550 degrees???. I feel a replacement is in order at no charge.

I bought two, one is close to accurate the 2nd is only off by 100 degrees.. 100 degrees only makes a huge difference if you live in Las Vegas right? It’s 110 outside? VS 210 or 10 degrees? C’mon man that’s a huge issue

not really good for a grill unless you clean it every time you use it. Its a bit too large and takes up too much space. I had this for 3 months and it just exploded while I was cooking burgers and now my grill has glass pieces all through it, obviously the food it ruined. Won't get this again !
