Minor modification of grille bezel required

My grille was long neglected and I had a fire inside which turned my burgers into hockey pucks. My fault. The inferno filled my thermometer with smoke and soot rendering it unreadable. I pressure washed and soft-scrubbed my grille back to 100% functional however the thermometer was now a total loss. Ordered this thermometer as it was the best price. Went to swap it and the shoulder on the back did not fit the D shaped hole in the old decorative bezel. No big deal. 30 seconds with a Dremel took care of it. I like that the temperature range is the same and has the logo on it. I also ordered some spare burner shields when I ordered this.

Looked nearly identical, but this replacement had a round threaded section whereas my Char-Broil grill had a "D" shaped hole and the gauge wouldn't seat properly. I routed out the opening to make it round and made it fit. Shouldn't have to do that. I have the tools, but others may not and willl not be able to install it easily.

As other reviewers have noted, it doesn't fit exactly as the OEM part does due to the notch design on the OEM part. (see reviewers pics) However, even though it doesn't sit flush into the grill hood, it's barely noticeable and does not affect performance. It's worth the $8.95 vs. toting a separate thermometer outside every time we grill.

This thermometer looked like an exact replacement for my Char-Broil, however, my unit required a “D-shaped” flat on one edge of the back which I was able to grind using my Dremel tool. There was no way to mount w/o this modification. Works great though.

The original setting the thermometer set in was a half moon. New thermometer was solid round. I had to pry the opening with needle nose pliers for it to look original
