I have to update my original review... I use this thermometer about twice a month when I make pancakes on my Lodge Cast Iron griddle. There are no open flames, and I have always followed the cleaning instructions and never submerged it in water... And I'm sad to say it's gradually slowing down and barely moving... In other words it's failing...

Like I said in my original review... I wish it was made in the US... In my experience, it's just another piece of Chinese-made junk. I will try to see if they honor the manufacturer honors the "limited" one year warranty and I'll post back how it goes.

A grill thermometer is great to have when you're cooking on a griddle. Back in the old days of American-made thermometers I'd keep the thermometer on the grill and move it around to different areas to learn where the hotter and warmer spots are.

If this was made in the US I'd have more assurance that the metal housing was actually safe and not cut with some toxic metal. So I just use it long enough to get in the range I want.. I'm also not yet entirely confident that it's accurate. I will have to double check it with a few other thermometers and I will report the variation when I do.

Gauge not accurate

The gauge is about 100 degrees off. It is too high on the low end. See photo of them while the gage is in my hand, it should read about 100 degrees. The gauge also shows the pan being cooler than what it really is. For example the gauge will show 300 degrees where the pan is actually over 400. I would not purchase this brand again.

Very slow to sense temperature. Read 275 F degrees on a stainless steel fry pan that was @ 400 F degrees. Also purchased a Acurite barbecue Grill surface thermometer at half the cost that I'm happy with. The Acurite reacts faster to temperature change and apears to be fairly accurate with temperature readings. I use to sense temperature of my stainless steel fry pans. Cooper-Atkins ended up in garbage can. This thermometer may have been defective, maybe you will have better luck.

I have had multiple surface thermometers over the years. I usually go through 2 per year since they get so dark I can't read them but they stay accurate. This thing was over 75 degrees off high with the first use. I was suspecting something wrong since I know my grill well. I pulled out last years and an inferred one also. So the old one and the IR agreed with each other while this was 75 degrees higher. I left it on and I was over 100 degrees off before I was done. Avoid this product.

Failed after a year

Didn’t last a year. I thought I’d add this negative review before it hits the garbage can. It was used on a 24” electric Toastmaster Pro series grill. It now reads 300° F when cold. Hard to see how contamination got into it as it is solid AL base with a snap ring sealed glass face. No holes in the snap ring, so I can’t use a ring tool to open it.

This what the Cooper-Atkins 3210-08-1-E looks like after only seven weeks . The grill was only used on the morning for breakfast. There is no way cleaning instructions on the web page. Don’t have a dish washer, I wash all dish ,etc by hand.

I purchased a Kenyon electric grill and was going to use it to check temperature on the grill top. The grill goes to 600 degrees but the Griddle Thermometer did not. It broke and now reads Zero.

This product is s certified piece of junk! Why would a company design a thermometer for household cooking use to have an accuracy of +/- 25 degrees? I wouldn’t buy this piece of crap! I’ve since purchased an oven thermometer for over half the price that’s much more accurate!
