I've bought many of these kinds of watches from Timex before, and I thought they used to light up when you pressed the button in. Maybe they've stopped this feature to save money. Anyway, this one definitely doesn't light up, so not sure my son is going to like it. Further, it arrived already ticking. This means that the battery life is suspect, and my experience with these watches is that they're basically disposable, as changing a battery that has died is rarely able to make the movement work again: it gets frozen and you've wasted the price of the battery. So will probably be returning it as not fit for purpose, but we'll see what the boy says when it's in his hands.
UPDATE: No, the boy didn't like it, and not necessarily because it didn't light up. He doesn't like the helicopter second-hand, because he couldn't tell at which digit it was pointing to, so he couldn't accurately count seconds for timing things. This seems to be important for a future scientist/chemist who wants accuracy, so we're sending this one back.
It's a good children's watch, the watch unit is well built and of good quality. The strap on the other hand is not the best. The elastic has to almost be too tight in order for it to stay in place, else it will slip. Its a shame the strap doesn't include velcro or a small clip to help keep it in place.
My son has had this watch on his wrist for a week now, so far it is the only watch (I have bought from Amazon and I bought 2 from Sainsbury's) that has lasted a week. My son says it is the most comfortable watch he has had, the strap is a stretchy soft material. I would buy this again and may get another for my other son. He wore it for another 8 weeks and it stopped working. Replaced it with a battery and it worked for another week. I give up with watches from Amazon😪
I get it for my 7y old daughter who just learn how to read a time, she really likes it and it is easy to read for her but unfortunately a bracelet started to be loose when she is wearing a watch ;( I would not send it back as she is happy with that watch but I will try to sew a bracelet a bit as it is made of elastic band
Whilst it is a pretty watch it is incredibly light and feels flimsy. The strap is not great material and see it getting snagged easily. It’s been gifted to my daughter for a birthday present but I wouldn’t recommend it particularly highly to others.
My son loves his watch. It's a cool design, easy for him to tell the time and fits well on his wrist with an elastic type strap. The thing I don't like about it is how easily the face scratches (even though he has looked after it) and that the battery ran out within a month of owning it.
the clock itself is fine, my boy quickly learned the read the time using this watch. The strap however is rubbish, and within a day of wearing this watch, the strap was fraying, within a few weeks the strap had broken.
My son is really happy with his first watch, which we bought at the beginning of November for his birthday.
I am pleased with it, and the fact it is waterproof is a definite advantage. It is however, losing time. I will change the battery and see if that solves the problem, but if you are going to supply a battery, I think it should last longer than two months.
