I like ugreen and have never had issues with their products.
Especially their cables.

However I have had a few minor issues with drop outs, weird controller glitches and power management issues with this particular hub, over many months, on both a MacBook Pro 2018, and now an HP Omen Gaming Laptop 2019 (even while using a [not supplied] 5V 1A Micro-USB Power delivery [into the hub]).

It works OK for low power/light usage, but if you want better stable IO and better power management (ie, waking PC from connected USB child devices), and want to connect more complex devices requiring firmware updates (gaming equipment etc) you would be better off looking elsewhere. I suppose really, this fits it's design, it's light and portable, for light use, if you are at a desk more often, think of something bigger/mains powered/higher performance.

Anker and TP-Link make some good mains powered USB hubs, but they are less portable than this, so it's a trade off.

Good luck! (try reviews, or your nearest computer street, stick to good brands at sensible prices, if you want stability).

PS. I have not got time to debug this properly or re-create it, the problems have occurred occasionally, but noticably, and importantly this is in comparison to my EXPERIENCE with 3+ other hubs, which never had these problems.

I will still buy ugreen products because I think they are a good manufacturer, no one is perfect.

My review has NOTHING to do with the functionality of this. I didn't get as far as plugging it in, so cannot vouch for it functionally. It comes down to 2 factors which I suppose are in the 'fine print'. Firstly I was expecting something made out of aluminium. What arrived was a plastic appearing to be aluminium which was most disappointing, and feels and looks cheap.

Secondly the plug-in power wasn't clear this uses the god-awful micro USB plug. From the pics it looked like USB-C. The difference comes down to the power it can deliver. Micro USB simply isn't there as a power delivery format, whereas USB-C is exactly that. So this was surprising as it was disappointing.

Overall I decided that it didn't meet my needs. This is partly my fault for not looking at detail into the fine print. However this review is to warn others to not make this mistake. If the two issues I raise are important to you then this review has been worthwhile.

Amazon returns takes the hassle out of all of this, so I'm grateful for this option.

I have had a Toyota CH-R for the last year and it has the 12v power source in the console between passenger and driver and only 1 USB port.
I saw this product and asked if it was suitable to use in a car and got one yes and one no, but I went with the yes answer as that person was already using it in his car.
I'm very happy to say I now have 4 USB sockets thanks to this device which worked without a problem. It's great value and has given me the flexibility I need to charge my phone whilst driving, power the dashcam and allow me to listen to music via USB too.

Its funny how laptop manufacturers seem to give you a lot of what engineers don’t want, but reduce or remove everything you do want. They killed serial ports & now brand new laptop only has 2 USB ports, no dvd, no network adapter? Seriously?
This unpowered product once plugged in means that my laptop now has 5 available USB ports, it’s compact & easy to use. Still new so can’t comment on robustness. Unpowered it would run my home external keyboard, mouse & memory stick, but refused to charge my Bose headphones even though the charging light was blinking. You can use an external power adapter (not supplied) if you need it to charge items. Thank you solving my USB issue.

Does what it is meant to and worked fine, however the listing and images are misleading. Pictures and description both mentioned and USB C input for power. It is however an inferior Micro USB.

Still does the job I needed it for, but if you need the higher power input USB C allows for then I suggest you avoid.

Have PS-Camera. PsVR. External Drive. PULSE 3D Headset and charging USB, so ALL default slots were used up.

I now have the camera, charge, and Bluetooth dingle for the Pulse3D all via the USB expansion.

A week or so in, and I've had zero issues.
