Im a drummer. I use a high end electronic kit through headphones. In practicing at home my system channels hi resolution music through the phones and I am able to hear both music and drums while I play. Have been using a pair of Beats Mixr phones for about a year but they are on-ear and no noise cancellation. Hearing the taps and thuds on each trigger pad when playing, tho not at a very high volume, is not optimal. Bought the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro over ear phones and used them first time today. My goal is simply to hear no outside noise. Put on a recording of Jean Luc Ponte's album "Cosmic Messenger" and sat down to practice. Astounding! Not only were the outside strike noises unheard but the clarity of sound was very very good. Impressive is the spacial range of the music. What once was almost flat is now a true 4 D experience sonically. The nuances across the spectrum is just perfect. True reproduction as it was meant to be heard. No eardrum fatigue after an hour of louder than usual playing (got a bit carried away). And my several different programmed drum kits with a wide range of cymbal sounds became seamlessly integrated into the music. Sounded like I was on stage w/ Ponte's band. Just Amazing. Comfortable to wear w/o a feeling of pressure on sides of my head. I did not expect such a dramatic difference from the Beats but am happy to have spent the $94 on the Sennheisers.

I just received my third pair of these headphones (needed another set for a YouTube studio project). That might offer a good indicator of their value both on the day of unboxing and over the long haul. I'm very satisfied with these headphones!

I got these because I hate Canada's CBC Radio. My landlord has it on constantly and it drives me crazy. It's smug, Leftist Propaganda 24/7. But it's not my house and I love the old man, and I'm not about to demand he turn off his beloved radio station, so instead I ordered these headphones to use when I'm at home. -In an effort to cut the noise and also so that I might listen to my own choice of music and podcasts, etc.

As a sound blocker, they sort of work; if the radio is set to a low volume, then I can mostly tune out the CBC blather. If I have my own audio playing through this headset, then it effectively blocks out everything, placing me in my own audio sound scape.

Thing is.., I don't always want to be listening to something. I like it just to be quiet sometimes. So I might just have to get some proper hearing protection ear muffs. -It's too bad that they don't make a set of hearing protection muffs with a wired audio connection! (All you can get are ones with radios in them. Not useful.)

On the plus side...

These headphones have an excellent sound far superior to all other consumer grade sets I've used. They are snug and comfortable and they do block out noise enough to take the edge off an annoying environment.

On the con side...

There's not much to complain about, but I will note:

The input cable is attached to the base of one ear cup, and like a stethoscope, every bump the wire makes against a desk, and every brush against your pants leg, is transmitted to your ear. So even without an electronic audio signal, it can make noise. It can be annoying if you don't manage the cables properly, and there's not much you can do about it other than try to ignore it, -or play something over it, in which case, the issue vanishes.

Over time, this issue has vanished from my awareness. Like I said; it's a small issue and will likely affect any wired headset.

These headphones have not lasted a year before the right channel has failed. Very disappointing. We use headphones in a professional setting while working at a desk. They are not transported or abused in any way. The sound was good and headphones were comfortable for all day use, but losing the right channel after less than a year’s use is inexcusable. Originally purchased on August 17, 2018. Problems started January 2019.

Bottom Line: Poor quality, audio loss within the first year of purchase. Do not buy.
