The description nowhere mentions that these batteries only charge to 8.5 volts.
All 4 batteries charged to between 8.51 and 8.53 volts, as tested on my Fluke VOM.
After writing Hixon, I got the following reply:
"Thanks for your purchasing and feedback.I'm very sorry for the inconvenience .I have shared your situation to our engineer,he has explained the problem as below:
(1)Our 9V battery -- li-ion battery, has a voltage range of 5-8.7v. Due to its low internal resistance and strong output capacity, it can continuously output at 8.5V for a long time, which can't be achieved by disposable battery. It can be recharged repeatedly and recycled to save cost."
They need to be upfront about this in their advertising as some devices just don't work properly with less than 9 volts, for example some analog VOM's.
It seems they know abut this but still market them as 9V.
Don't make the mistake I made and assume that their 9V's will be on-voltage just because their AA's are.

Great for guitar effects pedals
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 9 March 2021Verified Purchase
I am using these batteries in a fairly demanding application, guitar effects pedals. Not only can these things drain a battery quick, they also may sit unused for a while. So far I've been impressed by these battery's ability to not just provide a sufficient charge to run an overdrive for a long time, they seem to hold the charge they have for quite a while too. I've not tested with meters or timed anything but I have pulled them after a practice session or two and a week or so of shelf time. From the time it took to charge them back (minutes) to full strength I could tell they still had a whole lot of juice left. I'd have had no problem getting through a long night or two at the practice space without worry. Even if you have a bunch of ac adapters, these would make great backups.

Who Knew Re-chargeable 9V Batteries Existed?
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 7 November 2020Verified Purchase
It's that time of year for the Smoke Detector Polka... I needed to replace the batteries and discovered rechargeables!
Reviews for the Hixon were good and the 850mAh vs the more typical 600mAh convinced me to give them a try. The base charger was simple (suggest you place one end into place and then rock it back to make the two terminal connection) and I like the fact that it can charge as little as one and up to four; no pairing required.
I especially like the provided USB C connection to the base (cable provided). I used my iPad 2018 Pro USB C to USB C cable with my RAV Power charger (65W 4-Port Desktop USB Charging Station [GaN Power Tech] with 2 USB C Ports + 2 USB A Ports for MacBook Pro/Air, Dell XPS 13, iPad Pro, iPhone, Nintendo Switch, Galaxy and More) for an even faster initial charge.
Time will tell how long they'll last; I'll update as I can.

Rechargeable 9V: How did I live without?
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 6 September 2020Verified Purchase
Believe me! You will need rechargeable batteries for 9V application!
If you think about it, you will find that there are a lot of 9V batteries in your home. Garage door openers and smoke detectors are the most common ones in our home, and they usually don’t need to be replaced from time to time. However, when the time comes, you will need a replacement right away, and the chances are, you don’t have them stocked at home! NiMH Rechargeable batteries are the only alternatives in the past, and they do solve some of the problems. However, if you really switch to the NiMH alternative, you will soon discover when you need to recharge them, their capacity becomes nearly half unless you use the very expansive, top of the line, and even those won’t last till the third year!
I have been using 3.7V Li-ion rechargeable batteries on my wireless security cameras for years, and they still work very well. This is why when I decide to replace the 9V disposable batteries; I choose to go with the Li-ion option. Hixon has one of the highest capacity 9V Lithium in Amazon search (850mAh), so I decided to give it a try. The package arrived on time is neatly wrapped in plastic to avoid accidental short of the electrodes. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge them and then is good to be placed in the smoke detectors. So far I have no issues with these batteries, and the ultra high capacity should last me 2 to 3 years without worrying to replace them or recharge them. I think this Li-ion 9V will replace all other types in the near future. Remember, you want to look for higher capacity than the 230mAh or 600mAh (some of them say 5400mW) models, because it will save you a few times to claim high to change/charge the batteries!

Works Great
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 9 February 2021Verified Purchase
Placed 9v in a smoke detector and worked great. Also I purchased Hixon AA batteries and placed them in a remote controlled car. The cars have been played with everyday for a week and the AA batteries have yet to die.
I've noticed with regular NiMH batteries if you have 4 batteries for example powering a remote control car and I test the NiMH batteries as the car dies, 3 of the NiMH batteries will have 90% life left in them while the remaining battery is dead. Tested same car with Lithium AA batteries (Hixon) after one week all the batteries were still at roughly 95% charge. Will be purchasing more Lithium AA batteries.
Long story short with NiMH batteries in the remote control car when the car dies normally one would assume all batteries were dead and you would throw them away regardless if rechargeable or not. Everybody should have a battery tester too.
