The outer sensor detached from the stick. Maybe factory defect.

The ambient sensor part detached from the main unit, was not even close to the maximum temperature limit maybe defective product from factory. I wrote to the customer support of the meater. Waiting for their reply. Will update here.

UPDT: My product was factory defective. Got a quick reply from the meater team, they understood the issue and sent me a replacement probe for free.
Excellent customer service.

I’ve been smoking meat for decades. I was using pellets long before it became “fashionable”, and most home grillers were still stuck with Propane. However, I was never able to use the “wireless” advancements the newer pellet smokers now have as standard equipment. (My pellet smoker is an original Traeger.) The Meater wireless temperature probe is an inspired tool for remote monitoring of the “cook”. With an old iPhone, functioning as a “repeater”, I could be on the other side of the world and monitor the cooking session.

I was surprised by the Meater IOS app that I downloaded to my iPhone. It is so functional and, truly, is the best feature of the Meater. In addition to the internal & external temperatures, the historical graphical interface is very useful. Accurate, I’m able to view the rise and fall of the pellet smoker’s temperature. Amazing! It’s kind of a novelty, but I’m able to share a web link with anyone, allowing them to view, in real time, the smoking session. Also, I was surprised to discover that I could initiate a web browser to view the “cook” parameters as well.

Battery life on the wireless temperature probe exceeds 72 hours, before it needs to be recharged! So a 24 hour smoking session is a non issue.

Easy to use, excellent battery life, accurate internal and external temperature measurement, and a fabulous app, makes this tool a winner for your BBQ (or oven) cooking events.

The only “con” I have is that I wish the app has built in timers. During a cook, there are times when I need a reminder alarm. (I know I can set a timer in my iPhone, and I do, but it would be a nice addition to have it in the app.

The Meater brought my original Traeger to most of the capabilities of the newer grills and smokers, giving it another 5-10 years of faithful service. It is one of the best purchases I’ve made for BBQ since the original Traeger purchase, over 20 years ago.

The product solves a need...it has limitations on range even with the PLUS unit, but that's workable around.
The ISSUE IS, the unit fell apart in less than 2 years...while that sounds like a long time, its really not a disposable product at over $100!!! Meater offered me a 15% coupon to buy another one instead of fixing this one or telling me how to fix.
I own 3 of these products and have suggested it to friends as well who bought it...hopefully the others will last longer!…BUT THEN customer service issued me a new unit for free… Happy now!

I’ve used this twice now, once for a chicken and then again for a pork shoulder. I like it a lot because there are no wires. It’s all Bluetooth, and you can monitor the temperature and time on your smartphone. I have one recommendation and that’s to thoroughly read the instructions before you use it, else you might screw up. You must charge the device for four hours before you use it for grilling or smoking. Remember also that you must put batteries in the box that charges the device. Walk through the instructions in a mock run through before you actually use it. You’ll be happy you bought this, though admittedly it is expensive. There are other less expensive devices out there that will work just as well, but you’ll have to contend with the wires. Happy grilling.

I'm just starting out with my new Kamado Joe Classic and I have only tackled a few grillings so far using the Meter+. Downloading the App to your phone and a tablet will allow you to go anywhere since the Meter+ links up to Meter Cloud. Just bluetooth the probe to the tablet while using your home WiFi and your phone will pick up the info via the Meter Cloud. Now you can go to the store for more meat, wash your truck, and hit the liquor store (again) since more neighbors invited themselves over for dinner all while keeping an eye on your grilling process. The MEATER provides very convenient dual temperature measurement, internal and ambient. Accuracy of temperature measurement was very accurate as compared to analog thermometer. "Time to done" feature wasn't very accurate, but that isn't important in my opinion, temperature measurement is the most important.

I have 3 Meater probes and used all 3 on 2 pork butts.... there was a difference of around 60f for the ambient temperature from the 3 probes. I expected some difference depending on the placement in the smoker, but 60f seemed high. I just averaged the temp and maintained the temp around that... but seems a concern that the probes were so different... meat came out fine in the end, internal temps were pretty close.
