I ordered this for Teppanyaki and found it so good for other things as well, like pancakes, grilled cheese. The surface is well seasoned almost like nonstick. You do need to oil it but not a lot, just brush a layer over the surface will do. I like to keep it at low heat for easier control. It is cast iron so once it's heated it's not easy to cool down, what I do is drizzle some water or wine and the temperature will immediately go down a little, to keep your food not burn, and also gives a steaming effect.

You too can make the best burgers you'll ever eat! I made all these on my Lodge Griddle and I love this thing.

Great durability, really good solid piece of cast. I use mine on a gas stove and it heats very evenly and is such an excellent addition to my kitchen.

Again, why waste time on my words. Look at the burgers! They are amazing - get the perfect crust on them so easily because this griddle is the right tool for the job. Crunchy, cheesy, delicious.

Almost Perfect, Safety Concern

I am a big fan of Lodge cast iron products, owning multiple skillets and accessories for years now. I recently picked up this griddle while on sale and have been thoroughly enjoying cooking on it. The griddle came well seasoned, has a good cast iron heft to it and is relatively easy to clean. It should fit well on any standard stove top, and the handle cutouts are useful for moving it around. The griddle heats up evenly and retains its heat well, but has one fatal flaw when cooking fatty foods. The lip on either side of the reversible griddle is just too small, cooking things like eggs or pancakes will have no issues, but foods like hamburgers will easily saturate the edges with grease. While this can be managed with just dabbing the buildup with a piece of paper towel, if you are not paying attention it has the potential to leak over, and if you have a gas stove like myself could case a flare up. If the edges were just slightly larger this would easily be a 5 star product, but with the shallow edge it can cause some major safety concerns. If you are willing to monitor the grease buildup and clean it if necessary while cooking, this reversible griddle is great.

Rusted quickly, underneath the seasoning layer

I only used this 3 times, each time I oiled it before use, scrubbed it clean using only water, and then hand dried it thoroughly.

But even knowing how to treat cast iron properly, this griddle started to rust. Not surface rust, but actually bubbling up underneath the pre-seasoning layer

I've bought a whole bunch of Lodge products over the years, but the quality has been getting noticeably worse for some time now.
I feel Lodge are just trading on their brand name these days. The pre-seasoning is very poor and does not hold up for very long, even my latest Lodge cast iron skillet I ended up having to grind down and re-season from scratch, because the pre-seasoning started to flake off after a while. This never used to be the case.
