Super cute backpack. I bought this for my one year old son, seeing that it was a mini backpack, but didn’t realize how mini it would be. I was so excited to get it only to be disappointed, and laugh, when I opened it. This backpack fits my dog. Definitely couldn’t fit my child or hold anything in it really. Will be returning. Wish that this gave a better description but I hope the picture helps any future buyers.
I purchased the "Plus Series" version of this backpack directly from Herschel's website in August 2015. (Heritage Backpack | Plus × 1 Default / Black/3M Rubber / 18"(H) x 12"(W) x 5.5"(D), 20L)
One year later (Aug 2016) after use as my daily NYC commuter bag a hole rubbed through the bottom of the bag (see photo). I submitted a warranty claim through Herschel's website in September of 2016 and was denied within a couple of days: "At this time this item will not qualify for our limited lifetime warranty as our warranty does not apply to damage caused by accidents, misuse and/or general wear and tear."
If Herschel thinks that their "Plus Series" backpacks should last less than one year due to wear and tear, then I am deeply disappointed in Herschel as a whole. The statement on their website "We stand behind the quality of our products with a Limited Lifetime Warranty" is a hollow and inauthentic promise. I expected more out of the "Plus Series" line of Herschel's backpacks and will not purchase in the future with the knowledge that their most "premium" line of backpacks will wear down within a year's time.
This bag was certainly not worth the $74.99 I paid for it.
1.0 out of 5 starsTeeny tiny, like for the size of a doll - had to pay $6 to return!

I did not realize when I ordered this that they even made Herschel backpacks this tiny - for $19 I assumed it would be a little kids backpack - especially because it says "Kids backpack" in the description. It should say "Doll Backpack." They charged me $5.99 to return it. Buyer beware!
"This is an excellent backpack clearly of a high production quality. It carries all of my supplies for school (a ton of books, papers, and folders, as well as some clothes) with some room to spare, without looking packed. It has ample space and functionality while still looking stylish and minimal. It doesn't have the excess of zippers, useless compartments, or the long adjustment straps that are hallmarks of "freshman" backpacks. Overall, it remains functional without looking dorky, and it comes at a fair price. I really don't know what else I could ask for in a backpack, and I am so glad that I bought it!" |the Teen Boy|
2.0 out of 5 starsDid the description and images change? Way too small

So, apparently there are two version of the Herschel Heritage and it appears the description has been updated on the $52 version or perhaps we overlooked it. I doubt it. However, it's not uncommon to find images and descriptions change before delivery on Amazon purchases. For this one, we have no recollection of a "mid volume" descriptor. What an odd thing. Also, there were images of a model wearing this backpack, which are no longer present on the product page. We clearly recall the model wearing this backpack and it covered her back, as in it was adequately large. The one that arrived is ridiculously, humorously tiny. It's like a model of what a real back pack would be. After having a shocked, good laugh we revisited the product page and found the new descriptor AND another version of the backpack that looks identical, but it is probably the useful version of this backpack, but at twice the cost. So, we're moving on to another brand.
