For years I'd had an old leather tri-fold wallet from the good folks over at Wrangler, and while it served well, I just got tired of sitting on THE LARGEST, FATTEST WALLET EVER, ALL THE TIME. Seriously, my butt cheek was so sore that i finally snapped and said, "alright, we've got to slim this thing down."
I had had a bunch extraneous crap in my wallet, so my first step was to eliminate all of that stuff; after throwing out old business cards, expired Costco Cards, I ended up with only my Debit Card, Credit Card, Company Credit Card, Driver's License, and cash. Perfect for the Hank Wallet.
After perusing Amazon for a week or so, mainly looking for leather bifolds, i decided to roll the dice and go with something more progressive, and after the Hank wallet was delivered, I was glad i did. It's got a rough, sturdy canvas-like exterior that feels tough and looks great; the inside is a soft leather color, and only has three pockets for cards on the right, with an additional slot underneath them. On the left is the spot for the ID, which is for the most part transparent, but if you've got to pull your ID out for any reason, you may have a tough time; I've found that its difficult to get your ID out of there, and i'm concerned that it may one day tear the leather - that's the only reason i didn't give it a full five stars.. In the back of the wallet where you put the cash, there's a nice patterned fabric that looks sharp.
Overall, i really like this wallet, and it's served my purposes well - I wanted to downsize in style, and this wallet is it; sometimes i actually need to check to make sure it's still in my pocket. After two weeks it's holding up well and i like it.
7/24/15 UPDATE: Honestly, the wallet looks as it was when I got it last year. It is kind of "worn", the thread is starting to come out loose minimally around the bottom left corner of the wallet when closed, the tiny red and white striped fabric on the bottom right corner, as well as the fabric around the Herschel logo. Other than that, the wallet still looks the same and functions perfectly. If you have any concerns/want a replacement, don't hesitate to contact Herschel Supply Co. because I did it for my backpack and I was given store credit for how much it is and bought it again. I'm sure they'll do the same for your wallet!
The only thing that really shows any wear is the white Herschel label on the front, which is folding up a tiny bit on the fabric outside the seam.
I haven't spilled anything major on this so I still don't know how it would hold up to cleaning, but in general this is a great quality and great looking wallet, especially for the price.
Note: I got the Navy/Red Hank wallet, with the canvas on the outside and faux-leather interior.
