Bought this product without realizing that it is incompatible with two on my phones (Samsung S6 & Oneplus 8T). I was surprised to find out this was a thing. Totally, my fault, but the product description did not help by emphasizing the fact, & I was not allowed to make a return.

Just spend more & get an Oculus Quest 2, you'll be much happier.

Nice VR experience with this headset if your phone is supported by Daydream. I only wish the resulution was higher...thus the 4 star rating... but smartphone displays are just not high enough resolution to support it. But Google did a nice job with the GUI interface. It's very easy to navigate and there are a lot of apps available today...I know early reviews said there were not many games and apps but the selection is pretty good as of Aug. 2017.

If you see color fringing as you look to the side within the headset what you need to do is adjust the headset padding that touches your face so that your face will sit closer to the two lenses. I lifted the three Velcro fasteners and pushed the foam in towards the lenses. This greatly reduced the color fringing and enhanced the experience because the field of view increased as well. So play with this adjustment and you will know when you get it right. Enjoy! I know I will.

VR Headsets are getting more expensive over time. Look at the Oculus Quest 2! The price for that thing is $400 dollars now. I bought this headset to try a bit of VR before making a big purchase. Unfortunately, the software that Daydream uses is outdated and does not work. I decided to use the recently purchased Kinect to mimic a PCVR experience. I was initially using the Kinect for my old Xbox 360, but I realized that making a DIY PCVR experience was more enjoyable too. Indeed a shame that Google did not do something to make the Daydream headset open source or compatible with more devices. This had potential.

Overall Rating: 2.5/5 (I give it a 3 just because it made me more interested in VR)

Easy intro to VR

I chose this headset to test out some VR capabilities and see if I liked it. For the price, I think it is a good intro headset. I use it with my S9+ without issue. To ensure a good fit, make sure you remove any cases from your phone since this may misalign the view through the headset. The headset itself seems fine though it might be more comfortable with a sturdy overhead strap to help support the weight on your face. I was also a bit disappointed with the selection of apps/games on the Daydream/Google store, especially in Canada. I hope this increases over time. For now, we are getting good use out of this with Keep Talking & Nobody Explodes. It is also nice that you can cast with it to the TV so others can see what is going on.

If you are looking for a more robust VR headset I would definitely look into investing in an HTC Vive (or Oculus if you have no issues with Facebook). To wet your feet with some basic VR, this headset does just fine. I chose this over the Samsung Gear VR due to the casting capabilities and wanting to avoid Facebook interaction (even before the CA issues) since the Gear VR uses Oculus tech/store.
