Good all-round outdoor phone

Are you sitting comfortably ?
To start off with, this is my second Blackview phone, I first purchased a BV 7100 October 2022 when two other smartphones were damaged in a short space of time. One due to water damage and the other caught in a car door!!
I wanted a phone I could use for outdoor activities without having to purchase extra cases to protect it but also with decent graphics for other apps, streaming videos, and music.
The BV 7100 is a beast and 'does what is says on the tin' it IS rugged, its battery life is brilliant (3days) and it can operate underwater....however, it IS quite heavy and the camera quality / microphone are not great.
For the price though it suited my needs but after 6 happy months of usage including using underwater (some great photos) whilst on holiday in Greece, mine failed me due to water ingress.
CUSTOMER SUPPORT (Jessie) was brilliant once I put across my case and it was pointed out to them that at no point on the advert does it state NOT to be used in sea water and not for more than 30 minutes.
I was compensated to a degree as I was without the use of my phone for 3 days until it recovered its functions about 90% and refunded for it. I could not receive the refund until I sent the pone back so I ordered a BV 8800, transferred data across and sent back the BV 7100.
BV8800 is a great phone, and much better camera and lighter but the microphone and battery life (average usage one day) are not so great for my needs.
But if you want a rugged phone that you can use outdoors and are not bothered having to charge each evening then this is the phone for you.
Overall I would recommend Blackview phones, great graphics, loads of storage and durable
It does depend on your expectations versus what you pay which is why I am may upgrade further after trying out the BV 9200 for it's battery life and microphone... watch this space :-)

So I've had this phone for 9 months and I wanted to really give it time before I could review it. For those that liked rugged phones it is a standout. The night vision camera works flawlessly and is a great party or night time tick ;) I've spoken to customer service a time or two regarding features and they were exemplary in their help. Something I have never received with the bigger brands such as Samsung & Apple that want to charge for every dime of time they give you. The main reason i chose this phone is because it's the only reasonably priced rugged with 90+ hz screen and I can honestly say it's as smooth as butter scrolling away on it.

This is one of the best smartphone I've used:
- very fast to open app and to editing video,
- the display is very bright,
- handfree phone: no need to shout because the microphone is sensitive and it seems to filter out some background noise; the speaker has a good volume.
Remember, that this smartphone is not so light weight, it's a Rugged smartphone with a big screen:
- night vision really work, it has two ir-led to illuminate a reasonable area (you can use an external ir illuminator to improve the deep),
- camera, you can set the video to 2k, with a good performance. The wide angle help a lot to take panoramic pic,
- the Bluetooth has a very wide range, making it one of the most powerful Bluetooth devices I have used.
Have 3 things to improve...
1 it doesn't have jack connection for headset, earphones. You have to use Bluetooth headset.
2 with gloves, I find it hard to use the volume and power buttons because they are too close together.
3 has no slot for memory card!
BUT...
IN THE END IT'S A GREAT WORK COMPANION, I recommend it for its performance and reasonable cost.

Using continuous for 7h in first day, watching tiktok with Bluetooth on with my ear buds and playing games from 80% down to 30 what I find reasonable, to many functions what a Samsung or another brand doesn't have them. For the moment very happy worth every penny, Disappointed for camera you have only 4 times zoom but photos are good quality. I will come back after cople months of using it, it takes only 50 second to charge 1% of battery. Hopefully it's useful review.

At the price I paid (around £300), I am taken aback, in a good way with the specification of this BV8800 rugged smartphone by Blackview.

It comes with the up to date and stable Android 11 core system but what I like is Blackview's own Doke 3.0 operating spoke which is pre-installed. What Doke does is it predicts which apps you are likely to open before you do, based on your previous opening history. So after a restart, this phone is already half prepared to open your apps before you open them speeding up the experience even more.

I find the startup and shutdown times are fast probably aided, of course by the G96 chipset series offering an octa-core speed of 2.0 GHz. Storage space is 128 Gig, and ram is a healthy 8 Gig ensuring smoothness and speed when I open multiple apps.

The 6½ FHD display boasts a whopping 90Hz refresh rate and I must say I'm impressed with the texture, quality, sharpness and smoothness in operation. Colour vibrancy is in no way compromised, in fact if anything, it's better than what I'm used to. It excels in bright surroundings, even in sunlight.

As with all of these rugged phones, it comes with a top quality, robust outer casing able to withstand heavy knocks. I've always liked that feature. The casing on this phone, however is totally waterproof and it can take, what I find to be excellent quality underwater photos.

The 50MP rear camera delivers excellent high definition pictures in my opinion. It can also capture photo and video infra-red, monochrome images from total darkness.

Battery charging takes a couple of hours but it feels like it lasts for ages, I find.

There are more features, of course but for me everything works well and fast. I can't fault it and for £300, I think it's very good value for money.

My A55 has been an excellent piece if kit. The display is crisp and sound quality is excellent.
Battery life is longer than expected.
I have not used face recognition or the fingerprint reader yet but my colleague who also has an A55 is very impressed with the phone's performance.
The after sales service I have received from Blackview has been without a doubt, the best and most efficient in all my years of owning a mobile phone.

Had this phone a week or so now and so far it's pretty good. Clear screen, don't expect to much from the camera. Every now and then it will say I've dailed an incorrect number but when I ring again it will work. Slow charging so allow plenty of time. Maybe change charger will help. For the price it's well worth it for calling texting and odd internet work.probably would purchase again as it's a good phone for the money
