After using this for almost a week and seeing the reviews about the $$$ subscription…. Good news…You don’t even need the app, except for doing any updates to the device. The app is useless haha…. All it does is combine all games from your other apps or games on your iPhone into one. The app doesn’t actually give you anything to play. I will not be subscribing when my free year is finished. You get a free 1 year…so use it and make sure you turn off auto-renew. To sum it up, the app is just an organizer of your games from other platforms or services. Not worth $50+ for an “organizer app”. Wish backbone did a better job with this and actually offered something. It should be free. The controller is only worth $100 so this “free 1 year subscription” is clearly built into the price.

Without the app, you can Load up PS remote play, or an App Store game or Apple Arcade…as long as the game is controller friendly your good to go.

I was hesitant to buy this because of the price…and I still don’t agree but I cannot argue the high quality easy to use controller that this is. It really makes gaming just like your playing on your PC or console. Steam link worked perfectly. PS remote obviously worked well. The big iOS games like COD Mobile, Apex Legends mobile, Genshin Impact all worked perfectly. No battery to deal with, plugs directly into phone and away you go… that has been useful.

My only gripe is price…but good things cost more…I don’t regret buying it. I just think this should be cheaper. I recommend it as it’s a great controller and super convenient to use. if your looking for cheaper i would still recommend buying this, wait for a sale or buy an Amazon warehouse deal if one of these is available.

Nulla da dire sulla qualità e sullo stile di questo controller (in livrea PlayStation) ma molto deluso dal lato nascosto della faccenda: il costoso abbonamento per mantenerne le funzioni principali. Backbone infatti propone la sua app che funge da aggregatore di tutti i giochi installati sul dispositivo (compatibili con un controller) e delle app di straming delle console (per esempio PS Remote Play). La stessa app tuttavia permette di modificare le impostazioni del controller (una tra tutte molto importante: la possibilità di indicare un altro dispositivo che non sia uno smartphone su cui usare il controller con il cavo). L'accesso a tutte queste impostazioni è poi bloccato se non si possiede l'abbonamento. Il sito non specifica che i settings siano bloccati ma solo la parte di aggregazione dei giochi. Ho avviato un reso il giorno stesso in cui è arrivato. Per avere un controller che dopo un anno non posso più usarlo su più di un dispositivo senza pagare 50€ me ne prendo uno meno bello ma più funzionale.

Dopo più di una settimana di utilizzo finalmente posso dire la mia su BACKBONE.
Spinto dalle recensioni ENTUSIASTE, sia su amazon che su youtube, procedo all'acquisto a causa anche del black friday. Farò spesso comparative con Razer Kishi e Gamesir, visto che possiedo anche quei due modelli.

- Qualità costruttiva: discreta, non è un prodotto solido ma nemmeno costruito male. lo porrei tra il kishi (il più scarso da questo punto di vista) e il gamesir x2 che è invece molto meglio.

- Controlli: se avete letto almeno una recensione che parlava bene dei controlli di questo arnese vuol dire che 1. era sponsorizzata 2. era uno youtuber in partnership 3. non ha mai avuto un reale controller tra le mani. I controlli sono penosi.
Gli analogici non sono tali, sono moolto peggio di quelli di Switch per intenderci, minuscoli e con la corsa inesistente. Inutilizzabili in qualsiasi gioco che non sia mobile e richieda un minimo di precisione che non siano le classiche 8 direzioni. I tasti frontali sono piccoli, se avete le mani grandi molto difficili da premere decentemente e la croce direzionale è durissima, inutilizzabile sia nei platform che nei picchiaduro. Buoni invece i dorsali e l'ergonomia generale, che a causa della forma che si "adatta" alla mano, ha fatto ricevere parecchi consensi al prodotto rispetto ai competitors.

- App e Branding: qui Backbone ha spinto parecchio proponendo un packaging abbastanza curato, capace di attirare persone interessate ad avere più l' "oggettino" di design in casa che un reale controller utilizzabile in qualsiasi ambito.
L'APP E' A PAGAMENTO, sì signori, avete capito bene, e non un pagamento normale, bensì un ABBONAMENTO anche abbastanza costoso. Per avere cosa? Un'APP che racchiude i vari launcher dei servizi cloud e qualche gioco supportato dal controller, inutile? Beh non del tutto, ma sicuramente non vale i soldi di un abbonamento dopo aver speso 120 bombe per il solo controller.

Personalmente, sono abbastanza arrabbiato. Non tanto per il prodotto in sè, ma per tutto quello che c'è attorno. Se volete un'opinione onesta: guardate altrove. Se volete un'opinione non onesta, beh aprite un qualsiasi video su youtube che parla del prodotto.
Purtroppo un controller che ha i controlli mal costruiti, per me è bocciato.
