Dopo aver testato in laboratorio le nuove AmazonBasics Industrial AA con inattesi ottimi risultati, ho pensato di metterle a confronto con questa versione Performance, forse la più popolare batteria su Amazon. Ho anche inserito le Duracell Plus, un prodotto che gode di ottima reputazione. Il test consiste nel seguire la curva di scarica di ciascuna batteria su un'opportuna resistenza, da cui se ne calcola il contenuto energetico totale.

Questi i risultati nudi e crudi: in termini di capacità energetica ASSOLUTA le AmazonBasics Performance rimangono un filo dietro la nuova versione Industrial (–1%), mentre superano la concorrenza di Duracell Plus del +4%.

Nella scelta di una batteria conta molto anche il rapporto CAPACITÀ/PREZZO e su questo parametro le AmazonBasics stracciano letteralmente la concorrenza arrivando a oltre il triplo delle Duracell!

IL TEST IN DETTAGLIO
Per il test ho Inserito una singola batteria in serie con una resistenza complessiva da 12.5 Ohm all'1%. Con questo approccio la corrente di scarica iniziale è di 128 mA, equivalente a un carico di tipo medio per una batteria di tipo AA. Ho monitorato in tempo reale il voltaggio della batteria con un'interfaccia A/D di laboratorio e ho terminato il test quando il voltaggio è sceso sotto gli 0.8V convenzionali.

👍🏼 Dal grafico del voltaggio nel corso delle ore della AmazonBasics Performance se ne ottiene facilmente un'energia erogata totale di 11790 Joules (3275 mW-Ora). Si tratta di un'ottima... performance, inferiore solo dell'1% rispetto alle nuove AmazonBasics Industrial (11880 J, 3300 mW-Ora). Le Plus di un marchio leader come Duracell, che ho testato subito dopo le AmazonBasics con lo stesso apparato, hanno erogato un più misero 11319 J (3144 mW-Ora).

Allo stato attuale questo il rapporto capacità/prezzo (in Joules/centesimo di euro):

Un punto importante a favore delle Performance è la durata massima di stoccaggio di 10 anni dichiarata dal produttore rispetto ai 5 anni delle Industrial. Questo implicherebbe un tasso di autoscarica più basso.

👎🏼 Un minimo criticabile è il confezionamento in blister cellofanato, non così pratico come la scatola in cartone utilizzata da Duracell.

Value for money alkaline AA batteries of similar quality and performance to their Duracell equivalents. They also have an excellent shelf life.

My only gripe (and hence the 4 stars) is that they are vastly over packaged. I appreciate the packaging is cardboard rather than plastic but surely a small carton would suffice? After all, it's just a box of batteries and not luxury goods.

Alas, there's half the Amazon rain forest here!

I bought these to power our laser tag pistols. Put them in and no response. It took about three minutes before there was enough power in the guns to fire. 10 shots later and they had to be left to power up again. 10 more shots and I took the batteries out and used a tester on them. You can see the result.
Poor performance and I can't tell if there was just low level charge to start or they had actually drained that much in ten minutes. There may be devices for which these are suitable, but they were no use to me.

I purchased these Amazon Basics AA 1.5 Volt Alkaline Batteries to use in various low power items such as clocks and kids toys.

They arrived quick as expected by Amazon with no postage issues.

I tested all my battery's and they were all 1.5v or slightly above, also all were in good condition, none of them were corroded or damaged.

Time will tell how long they last but they seem a good buy for what I need.

I bought these batteries knowing the risk of bad battery life (after reading through the comments); suffice to say that these batteries don’t last at all - I have already churned through the 4th battery for a mouse, in the span of 3 weeks. I’ll think twice before going with these budget batteries again.
