Love these little cases, perhaps too much because they are probably virgin plastic and being the ‘Basics’ brand it is one step closer to the Amazon overlords achieving unrivalled world domination.

But when there is a product that does just what you want, it’s hard to pass up. These are perfect for kits of items for travel. They are lightweight and the dual sided compartments hold enough to take the essentials without allowing them to be overloaded. They are rigid enough to prevent items inside from being crushed when inside a bag (although am sure would buckle if stood on, so maybe not ideal for the youngest children).

I have one set up as my mini watercolour kit and another as my general sketching/ink/note taking one. Can just grab this and the appropriate sketchbook and have everything for urban sketching, landscape work, passing time happily in a train station. Hoping to one day be on a flying machine again, would be ideal to protect pencil ends when a cabin bag is squashed under the seat in front and the bright colours make them easy to find in a bag.

Amazing four are in a set, could colour code for family member, or in my case for purpose. Will set up another as a mini first aid/comfort kit with ear plugs, headache tablets, eye mask if again the flying machine thing is practical again at some point.

Amazon Basics Plastic Pencil Case 4 Pack - Very Handy

I bought these for storage of small items in drawers like stationary and arts and crafts, but they’d work perfectly well as a pencil case too! They’re two sided, and together both sides are maybe around an inch thick. Each side has multiple different sized compartments (the larger ones ideal for pens, rulers and pencils etc, the smaller perfect for sharpeners/paper clips/pins and so on.

They’re made of hard transparent coloured plastic, and currently snap closed. I don’t know how long the clip would last if you were to use them in a rucksack and carry them around to school/uni/work etc, but for the price I’d say it doesn’t matter too much and they’re perfectly adequate for my purpose.
