A bit of a struggle to do solo, and the "instructions" were useless.

I dry-fitted it first to get a general idea where the corner pieces should sit, and where the retaining posts and fittings should be placed. It was a bit of a drag getting it set up (fiddly, fussy) but in place it looks good and there's no doubt the quality is good.

I could probably have gone with the 12" model, but the 16" version is fine. Not sure about those knobs that retain everything in place; that might be a prime target for nibbling from my pup. But that's not the fault of the manufacturer.

I can recommend this product; I got it on sale for a great price and its looks good and will do exactly what I want it to do.

how well this works for you is going to depend on the dog.
our puppy jumps up on it without knocking it down, but I'm not convinced it would hold up to a +70lb dog doing the same.
The barrier leaves a gap by the windows of my Subaru forester large enough for our Lab puppy (~20lbs) to wiggle through. she barely fits through and probably wont be able to at 30lbs. since I already had this and didn't want to wait a week I made a few modifications to push it closer to the window.
I cut a chunk (2 x 1 squares) from each corner which allowed me to extend it into the window a bit more. with this modification it works great, at least until the puppy is older.

The dog barrier fits well in a 2020 Subaru outback XT. This unit is well-made and fairly easy to assemble. It came with multiple size threaded bolts to accommodate different depths of head rests.

I would definitely recommend this dog barrier.

So….right out of the packaging, the unit was clearly used. I bought a new unit but I received a used unit. The instructions are not helpful, there is a lot of guess work when installing. Definitely not a one man job. After frustration and perseverance, I got to the last step when one of the c clamps snapped in half! I called Amazon to complain and instead of sending me a new clamp, they are sending me a whole new set up! I’m not repeating that horrible experience of putting a new unit together- I will just take the clamp and send back the rest. Little wonder our planet is failing.
Be warned- this is not easy.

Wire metal barrier is good quality but the screws are poor quality. After removing it once, two screws had already stripped even though only tightened by hand! Absolute garbage. Need to remove it occasionally to fit the retractable rear cargo cover, which doesn’t fit while it’s mounted.
